Experimental Investigation on Thermal Conductivity of Straw Boards Based on the Temperature Control Box—Heat Flux Meter Method

Straw boards are the environmentally-friendly and sustainable materials used for building envelopes. To validate a novel alternative test method of thermal conductivity (λ), temperature control box–heat flux meter (TCB-HFM), better understand properties straw boards, experimental investigation on two types using such was carried out. Moreover, via conventional guarded hot plate (GHP) conducted to provide benchmark. Results show that fluctuation amplitudes difference heat density TCB-HFM during steady state much smaller than generally acceptable limitation 5%, 5.9% deviation λ between methods is in reasonable range.
